Guess what I can do?

Today I actually picked up my teething ring and put it in my mouth.  I know, it sounds silly but I never put anything in my mouth, well except for my fingers once in awhile but that's about it.  Mommy was so proud of me.

He's got a really good giggle but I haven't been able to get it on video yet but this one will put a smile on your face.

Leaving Houston

Today we left Houston.  We went to the airport and got on out plane.  As the plane was backing away from the gate a weird noise sounded and I could smell something yucky in the cabin.  Turns out there was something wrong with the engine.  The pilot took us back to the gate and that's when I decided to have a meltdown.  Mommy was mortified.  She tried so hard to calm me down but the plane got really hot and I got really hot.  I was tossing and turning and thowing my arms around.   Mommy tried to calm me down.  She just couldn't believe how I turned into a little monster and of all times to have a meltdown, it was on a crowded plane where mommy and I were in the middle seat between two men.  They both said it was ok cause they had kids too but mommy was so shocked by my behavior that she just didn't know what to do.  All I know is I just wanted to get out of here.  I was tired but it was too hot to sleep.  Finally 2 hours later, the plane was good to go and we took off.  I took my bottle and finally fell asleep for mommy.  Finally she had peace.  Unfortunately, our plane got in at 10pm and time she got home it was 11pm and I didn't want to goto bed until midnight.  Poor mommy, she has to work tomorrow.  I'm sorry mommy for being a little stinker.   But 1 bad day out of many weeks of shear joy doesn't seem to bad of a deal.

Trip to the Houston ZOO!

Today my daddy took me to the Hoston ZOO! WoW!!!  I can't believe all the different animals I got to see.  I really couldn't miss the giraffes and  elephants.  They were so big.   But all the animals were so different.  Some were big, some were small, some had fur and others didn't.  I saw birds, monkeys, bears, zebras, and a really weird water turtle with a really long neck.  

What was really neat was seeing all  the other kids riding around in their strollers. We were all looking around. There was so much to see and no time for sleep today.  

Trip to the beach!

Today daddy took us to Galveston to see the beach.  Mommy was anxious to see how I would like it and can I tell you that I didn't like it at all.  At first it was weird to feel the wet sand under my feet.  Then all of the sudden out of no where, a big wave came and it hit my legs.  I screamed out loud as I jumped.  Both mommy and daddy were shocked at my reaction.  

My 2nd plane ride!

Today mommy and I went to the airport.  We're flying to Houston!

I was a perfect angel on our flight.  When we landed and were waiting for our baggage, people came up to mommy and commented on how surprised they were to see a baby.  They never heard a peep out of me.   

Mommy bought me this shirt especially for daddy.  It says "Cool just like daddy."  I liked seeing daddy smile when he saw my new shirt.

DA - DA

I've been mumbling and blabbing all week but today I said Da-da.  Grandma and Grandad heard me.  They wanted daddy to hear me say it but I don't like to talk on the phone much.  I just push the buttons.

Surprise mommy!

So on Friday, mommy and daddy took me to go get my 6 month photos taken.  Mommy told the photographer that I can sit up a little but she will have to be in arms distance when I fall over.  So the photographer sat me down and the next thing you know the camera is clicking away.  Of course whenever the camera is out, I do my signature smile which is a very serious face.  Anyway, when mommy felt confident in me, that's when I tumbled over.  Twice, on my face.  Not fun mom!

Then as the weekend went by, I practiced sitting.  I sat in my crib and stared at this new toy.  Mommy would peek over the crib and say boo and I'd jump a little then tumble over.  The crib catches my fall a lot better than the floor did.

Today, my grandma and grandad came to visit.  They are staying the whole week to watch me while mommy goes to work.  My baby sitter is already on vacation for the memorial day weekend.  Anyway, I needed to show grandma and grandad my new sitting abilities.  By the end of the night I was sitting on my own and I didn't fall down.  I was able to recover myself if I started to tip.  Mommy was so proud.  I was laughing real loud while sitting around all my toys.  Then I started talking.  Grandma could swear I was saying dadadada.  Mommy couldn't believe it.  I was so excited I didn't want to goto bed.  Grandma finally got me asleep around 9pm.  Who wants to sleep when you're having fun!

What a fun day today!

Today my daddy and mommy took me for a stroller ride around the neighborhood.   I love my stroller.  I lay back, relax, put my feet up on the tray and get pushed around.  How much fun is that?  Then we went and I watched daddy get his hair cut.  We went to a real barber shop.  It was neat.  The best part of the day is when my daddy put together a new toy for me called the push around buggy.  It's that really cool red car that I wrote about in a previous post.  I LOVE IT!  I watched daddy put it together and then he took it outside and put me in it.  Mommy got the cam corder and took a video of me driving. (actually daddy is pushing me)   I had my shades on and I was cruising al around the neighborhood.

Afterwards, my daddy mowed the grass.  Mommy told me that when I get older, I get to mow the grass too.  Daddy made it look like fun.  Mommy said that there are lots of fun things I get to do when I grow up.  I get to do the dishes, laundry and clean the house.   I don't know what that means but if my mommy says I'll like to do it, then I bet I will.  But maybe I should get a 2nd opinion.  Daddy?

Another doctor appt? This one was not fun!

Today mommy went to work but she came and got me 1/2 way thru the day.  I was so happy to see her but she took me to the doctor.  I thought we were done with doctors but turns out today was my 6 month check up.  Ok mommy, I was 6 months old 10 days ago.  I guess mommy couldn't get an appointment till now.  

Anyway, these are my stats:

Weight:  16 lbs 12 oz    -    38 %

Length:  27 inches        -    72%  

Head:  16.5 inches        -      8%

Daddy is a little nervous about my weight.  He thought I would be at least 17 lbs but the doctor wasn't concerned.  He said babies slow down weight wise and I'm really long so I'm perfectly fine even though the percentile is low.  My head is little too but both mommy and daddy have small heads so I fit in perfectly with my family.

I still have problems with Excema and the doctor is still concerned so he told mommy to make an appointment with the pediatric dermatologist.  Oh my...is this going to start the doctor cycle all over again??  Well, luckily I don't have to come back to my pedi for another 3 months.  But this visit wasn't over yet.  The nurse came back in.  I thought it was because she thought I was so cute she wanted to see me before we left.  Oh, not so.  That lady pricked me 4 times!!!  I got 4 shots.  OUCH!!!  I cried and cried.  Mommy hugged me tight after it was over.  I was really ready to leave now.

Back to work for mommy!

Today mommy went back to work.  She dropped me off at Ms. Lusine's house.  She watched me all day.  Mommy wasn't quite sure how she felt about going back to work but once she got back to work everyone made her feel so welcome and comfortable that it wasn't so bad after all.  Mommy loves me so much but she needed a little break.  Ms. Lusine is really nice and I enjoy spending me day with her and the other kids.    

The eye doctor and Cranial Technologies

So today I had 2 doctor appointments.  The eye doctor and Cranial Tech.  I really like going to the eye doctor.  They sit me in a big chair with my mommy and put toys in front of me and move them from side to side.  I watch them so closely.  Then the doctor puts a light up to eye.  It was so neat and I did really good because the eye doctor said I don't have to come back anymore.  I guess my eyes are ok after all.

We went to Cranial tech and I got my new helmet.  They took my old helmet and put my new one on.  I had to wear it for 15 minutes and then they checked my head for any red spots.  Like where it rubs and starts to irritate it.    When they took it off, there were no red spots so we got to go home.  I wore my 1st helmet for 8 weeks.  Daddy decorated it with Penn state stickers.  Cranial tech said I should have the 2nd helmet for 8 weeks as well.  I know my daddy will decorate this helmet as well.

Oh I forgot to mention.  Last Tuesday at physical therapy I did so good that Ms. Shannon now has me coming every other week instead of every week.  Mommy is so proud of me because I am doing so well moving my neck to the left.  I'm working on rolling over my right shoulder and crawling.  The helmet has slowed me down a bit but whenever we take it off, mom works with me.

I got to meet more family members

Today mommy took me to meet more of my family.  

I can drive a car!

So mommy took me to Cranial Tech for my weekly helmet adjustment.  Ms. Cheryl said I'm going to make the adjustments, check out the car while I'm gone.  So mommy sat me in this car and VROOM VROOM I was ready to drive.  I love this car!

Ms. Cheryl brought my helmet back and put it on.  I only have this helmet 1 more week and then I get a new one.

6 months old today and monthly summary (month 5 to 6)

I'm 6 months old today!  I can hardly believe it.  Mommy and daddy are so proud of me and all my milestones.  Let me tell you what I can do:

I can roll over from my back to my belly but I love to roll from my belly to my back just so I can avoid tummy time.    In the last few weeks, I've rolled over to my belly in my crib which wakes me up from sleeping.  It makes me a little cranky and sometimes mommy will come in and roll me back on my side or back.  When I'm awake, once I'm on my belly I seem to slobber so much more.  I love, love, love my fingers and stick them in my mouth all the time.  I can get 8 of them in my mouth at once.  I can also pick up my toys and juggle them from my right hand to my left had.    I can sit up but I still need a spotter or pillows of course.  Mommy has a video of me sitting up in my crib and falling over.  Mommy yelled timber.  What does she mean by that?  I love standing up.  I stand as much as I can and when she stands me on the dresser next to her, I'm taller than her.  I smile so big because I'm such a big boy now.  I love to talk and I babble all the time.  Mommy will give me the telephone and I like to press the buttons.  I also like to giggle as you all saw in my April post.  I do eat all the time.  I still love my bottle but mommy has been feeding me solids.  I like sweet potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, apple sauce, and peaches.  I especially love my stage 2 solids - oatmeal, peaches and bananas mix.  Yummy!  I don't really care for rice cereal or green beans but I eat them.   Lastly, I love giving big hugs.  Especially when I don't have my helmet on.  I love to snuggle my head into mommy and daddy's neck.  Then I wrap my arms around them so tight.  Mommy calls me her little monkey.

I got to visit a lot of family and friends this month which made this month so special to me.

I'm Just riding around in the car!

Mommy and daddy were going out and I'm just hanging out in the car, along for the ride.  I got nothing to do but to look at my cute self in the mirror.

Visiting with mommy's friend Mrs. Terri

Today mommy took me to Stafford to visit mommy's friend Mrs. Terri.  They met up at Chick-a-filet.  They talked all about me and Mrs. Terri even held me.  I was real good until the end when Mrs. Terri was holding me.  At first mommy didn't understand why Mrs. Terri was handing me back to her but then mommy smiled and said Oh Cody!  Hee-hee!  I left a good one for her.  

Anyway, mommy wonders why it took her so long to meet up with Mrs. Terri.  They had such a nice visit.  Hopefully we can visit her at her house one day and I can meet her daughters Breanna and Kirsten.  If I spelled your names wrong I'm sorry, I'm only a baby, I can't spell yet.  :)
